Blue Buttons at Bus Stops

This evening, I was introduced to the blue button at the bus stop.

After dinner with a couple of friends we decided to grab a bus up to the next station. We were trying to discern the timetable, badly illuminated by the orange street light, when one friend promptly stepped forward and pressed a blue button at the bottom of the timetable. This backlit the entire timetable making it very readable.

Two of us looked at him like he'd just invented fire. He promised us that it was quite a new innovation. Probably just to make us feel less like country bumpkins gawking at the blue button that illuminates timetables at bus stops.

That's cool! Who says that public transport isn't moving forward... it increasingly makes the Washington transport system look outdated to say the least. I'm a big fan of the dot-matrix display to tell you when the next bus is coming, but not sure if that made it to all stops yet.

I'd be interested to see a pic including this blue button.
