That Mitchell and Webb Sound Series 2

Dave and Rob reading sketch

Last night, I went to the final recording session of That Mitchell and Webb Sound.

I arrived just in time at a studio just off Tottenham Court Road. Luckily, being on the guest list got me past the numerous checkpoints and I managed to get in before they locked the doors.

This was the first time I have been to a radio recording. Much like a live show, just with less visual gags. Obviously.

Dave and Rob soon appeared on stage and had everyone doing a Mexican wave in short time. Once we were in the mood, they were joined by James Bachman and Olivia Colman.

Very quickly, we were in to the sketches. All well written and performed, and naturally tremendous fun. Some were short monologues, others involved all four.

My favourite was the fictional number game, or possibly the IT support one - listen out for them. My friend thought that some of the sketches may be too risque and will be cut. I'm not sure if they will, but we'll wait and see.

The show will be broadcast on Radio 4 from February through to March. If you can't get access to Radio 4, then you can listen via the Radio 4 website.

"That Mitchell and Webb Sound" starts airing on Thuursday 10 Feb at 6:30pm Radio 4. I was at that recording too and also the wednesday one. My favourites were the makeover show advised by Pol Pot, Big Brother and based on the Soviet 5 year plan, The ongoing saga of the snooker commentators, and the Queens procession. From the Weednesday show the Mad Bear charity appeals built beautifully and hysterially. I think I saw you in the corner with the beautiful digital camera. Lovely pictures, are there any more? Marvellous talents those M&W guyss, all the best, haze x

Hey thanks for posting the pics. I was lucky enough to get into all four recordings, though it was a close-run thing on a couple of occasions (having to wait for the standby lotto)... it was great fun to behold. I thought the first two recordings just had the edge material-wise, but they'll probably have chopped and changed the order completely for broadcast. Hope they get the chance to do a telly version before too long!

They recored enough material 4 hours in total, so enough for 8 episodes so a lot will get cut, sadly. What were highlights for you of the first 2 recordings Andy? haze x

They recorded enough material for 4 hours of broadcast, enough for 8 episodes, but the series is only 6 episodes long, so sadly a lot will be cut. What were highlights for you in the first two recordings? Roll on Thursday evening and another TV show! haze xx

Went to the first one back in January of this year. I'd never heard the first series, but my friend had tickets and he recommended it to me. I absolutly loved it and wished i had more tickets. Any ideas of a 3rd series?
