Sweeping or Vacuuming?
I find sweeping much better than vacuuming.
I think it has to do with the lack of noise. Sweeping is a peaceful, quiet repetitive sound. Vacuuming is loud and stressful.
Sweeping is more satisfying. At the end of it you can see the small mound of dust which is the result of your efforts. Vacuuming results in a bag you empty and a distinct lack of accomplishment.

I guess you don't have wall-to-wall carpeting! Would that I could sweep them...
Get rid of the carpet! Go for bare wood floors and get some slippers!
Yeah, well, if I had the money. It's not like there's decent wood underneath the carpets waiting to be uncovered - it's a condo built with carpeting, alas.
