Desert Island Albums
This was inspired by Desert Island Discs and Alicia's desire for new music. I think the choices can be quite revealing as to how we change. My choices are not too far from what they would have been 5 years ago, but 10 years ago would have seen more metal.
What 8 albums would you take to a desert island?
You cannot take compilations (Soundtracks, Greatest Hits, etc.) You will be rescued in a year when you can revise your selection.

Oh I'm glad you let us know we'll be rescued in a year!
Good idea, and I am going to check out these albums. If you are willing to listen to them for a year, then they must be good.
A music question! I'd have to take: - Prince: Sign'O'The Times (does this count as 2?) - Crazy Penis: Wicked Is The Music - Peter Gabriel: US - Craig David: Born To Do It - Oasis: Standing On The Shoulder... - Gomez: Bring It On - Kate Bush: Hounds Of Love - Prince: Diamonds & Pearls The bottom half of this list are interestingly resurrected lately since I ripped them and remembered how good they were... Are you sure we can't take compilations? I really want a Hed Kandi.
Wendy - Of course I wouldn't leave you there! Although you would have to fend for yourself against the wild pigs. Alicia - Waiting to see your list. Gary - Interesting second Prince album choice. Not Purple Rain? No you can't have compilations. This makes you choose albums where all the songs are good.
Purple Rain, while I do think it's a classic, was always too loud for me. I need to be in the mood for it, which (for me anyway) puts it below Sign in my rating - I mean masterpiece is not strong enough to describe Sign. Watching any of Sign played live has never been matched by anything I've seen either. Having said that, I'm surprised I don't have Bjork in there (also awesome live). I think Selma has weakened my interest in her though... I feel dissapointed.
My list/2 cents: - The Beatles: Abbey Road - Jeff Buckley: Grace - Radiohead: The Bends - Rufus Wainright: Want One - Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez - Prince: Sign'O'The Times - The Smiths: Hatful Of Hollow - The Human League: Travelogue
Gary - I was refering to Diamonds & Pearls. Sign is obvious. :P Andy - Human League eh?
Ah - Diamonds was my first Prince CD. First P concert too. I really like the studio sound on this album (OK, I'm a big fan of Michael B too).
